What we collect
Your name, email address and password (stored as a secure hash) when you create an account.
The essays you submit, including photographs of handwritten work and their transcripts, your marks, and the feedback generated on them.
Messages between you and your tutor through Ask-Tony, and any feedback you flag.
Your subscription plan. Card details are collected and stored by Stripe, our payment provider — they never touch our servers.
How your work is processed
Essays and photographed pages are sent to an AI model provider (currently Anthropic) to be transcribed and marked. They are processed to produce your feedback and are not used by us to train public AI models.
Your tutor reviews marks and feedback, and may correct them. Corrections are stored to improve marking quality for you and other students.
Messages and safety
Because most of our users are under 18, all communication with your tutor stays inside Bandmark, and messages cannot be deleted by anyone — including the tutor. A parent or guardian can be given a read-only link to view all conversations at any time.
Do not share phone numbers, email addresses or social media handles in messages; the app will remind you if it notices them.
Storage and retention
Your data is stored with Supabase. Essays, marks and messages are retained while your account exists so your progress history works.
You (or a parent/guardian) can request a copy of your data or deletion of your account by contacting us; safeguarding records (messages) may be retained where the law requires.
Who can see what
You see your own work, marks, messages and progress. Your tutor sees the work and messages of their students. A parent or guardian with your parent link can read your tutor conversations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not show advertising.
Contact
Questions or requests about your data: contact your tutor through the app, or the operator at the email address on your invoice.
